Drake wins staggering $230,000 NBA bet as Tyrese Haliburton and the Pacers upset Milwaukee
The Grammy award-winning rapper is renowned for his gambling exploits.
To mark the New Year, the One Dance singer decided to place an NBA wager on the in-form Pacers for their road game against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Drake shared a screengrab of the $60,000 bet on Instagram along with the caption “Betting on a home hangover”.
The 37-year-old stood would win a staggering $225,000 if the bet came in – and Tyrese Haliburton and the Pacers were on hand to get Drake’s betting year off to a winning start.
Haliburton scored 26 points and Bennedict Mathurin dropped another 25 to lead the Indiana to a surprise 122-113 win against the host Bucks.
Milwaukee saw a 15-game home winning streak come to an end with the loss.
Haliburton and Mathurin each had a double-double, with Haliburton dishing out 11 assists and Mathurin grabbing 13 boards. Isaiah Jackson added 18 points and nine rebounds.
Two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo led Milwaukee in vain with 30 points, 18 rebounds and 11 assists for his third triple-double of the season.
Drake placed the successful bet with Australian online sportsbook, Stake.
